The paper was entitled 'Measuring the functional size of a data warehouse application using the COSMIC-FFP method. That paper was written in response to a paper by Luca Santillo [2] who suggested that the COSMIC method would provide a better way of measuring a functional size of data warehouse software than earlier '1 st Generation' Functional Size Measurement methods. On the applicability of COSMIC-FFP for measuring software throughout its life cycle

Software measurement plays a key role in software engineering and, to improve its performance, an organisation needs to measure software at each stage of the development life cycle. Recently, the COSMIC-FFP measurement method has been developed to improve the measurement of the functional size of a large array of software types. By quantifying software’s functional user requirements, the method...

Convertibility Between IFPUG and COSMIC Functional Size Measurements

Since 1984 the International Function Point Users Group (IFPUG) has produced and maintained a set of standards and technical documents about a functional size measurement methods, known as IFPUG, based on Albrecht Fuction Points. On the other hand, in 1998, the Common Software Measurement International Consortium (COSMIC) proposed an improved measurement method known as Full Function Points (FF...

Measurement of Functional Size in Conceptual Models: A Survey of Measurement Procedures Based on COSMIC

Many functional size measurement procedures have been developed for applying the COSMIC measurement method to particular methods of software production. A subset of these measurement procedures is centered on the measurement of the functional size of the applications from their conceptual models, allowing the generation of indicators in early stages of the development cycle of a software produc...

A COSMIC Measurement Procedure for BPMN Diagrams

In recent years, the estimation of effort, budget and time has been a fundamental step in the software project life cycle. Having this knowledge it is possible to manage and control a software project. So that, it is important to have these estimations as early as possible in order to produce a sound schedule for the project. Taking into account that BPMN diagrams are widely used in industry fo...
